Day 6 – Changing of the Seasons

Buds Cam 11-2011 004While on my morning commute to work…I noticed how in just a couple of weeks the leaves have changed from the bright hues of early autumn to the dull, earthy palette of the FALL Season!

The full leafed trees are now becoming less clothed in their leafy finery! The skimpy look is now in season, on trees that is! Humans are starting to sort through their wardrobe and pull out the woolens, leggings, toboggans, sweaters, jackets, boots, gloves, scarves…you get the point…we are seeking WARMTH! There’s a fire in the stove and a woodpile outside (not stocked as much as I’d like it to be).

This above represents Seasonal change! I love the Seasons…having grown up in Southern California, I only knew HOT, really WARM, WINDY, or what I thought was COLD, the upper 40’s. That represented WINTER to me! The 40’s was COAT weather…while here in the 40’s sweaters (maybe) are usually sufficient. We’re still wearing flip-flops in the 40’s!

Seasons…represent Change! That thought began flooding my mind. I had to lay it aside and go “to work” as that was what I was being paid for! But my heart wasn’t there…it was far away thinking about all the seasons of my life, my life experiences, my changing goals, my children and grandchildren, my parents, cousins I’ve not seen in years… all this flooded my heart and mind!

Seasons come and go and they’re never the same. While the seasons are scheduled three-month periods…sometimes they overlap! Others suddenly change from one season to the next …one day we’re basking in the warmth of the sun and the next day it’s so cold our bodies shiver in protest. Amazing!

Each Season brings new experiences, challenges, joys and sadness, to life. Some Seasons are extremely difficult and we think we will never survive. While the next is almost euphoric! We are riding high, soaring through the blue sky.

Life is extreme! Life is boring. Life is good! Life is bad! Life is colorful. Life is colorblind. Life is black and white. Life is gray. Life is bright. Life is dark. Life is hectic. Life is calm. Life is Life. LIFE IS DIVINE!

Life is a gift given to each one of us by God! We all live different lives within our own little world…our circle of life. To someone our life is one of the above.

10-Questions I asked myself in reviewing my life history:

  1. How do I define my life?
  2. What is the defining priority?
  3. In retrospect what were challenging moments that changed my life?
  4. What lessons have I learned? What lessons have I had to repeat and relearn?
  5. What particular situation or circumstance can I still remember clearly as if it just occurred?
  6. I have learned to appreciate ____________ in life?
  7. What is on my “bucket list” that I’ve not accomplished?
  8. What are my “values” in life?
  9. Which have changed and why?
  10. What do I want my family to remember about me?
    • Life is long.
    • Life is short.
    • Life is in God’s hands.
    • He defines the length of our life.
    • He is the breath of life.

Seasons come, Seasons go, and Life goes on!

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (NLT)

For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest. A time to kill and a time to heal. A time to tear down and a time to build up. A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance. A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones. A time to embrace and a time to turn away. A time to keep and a time to throw away. A time to tear and a time to mend. A time to be quiet and a time to speak. A time to love and a time to hate. A time for war and a time for peace.

Verse 11  Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time.  He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.

Verse 14  And I know that whatever God does is final.  Nothing can be added to it or taken from it.  God’s purpose is that we should fear him.

Verse 17  …In due season God will judge everyone, both good and bad, for all their deeds.

God’s Word is so amazing!

What Season of Life are you in?  If it’s a Rough one, DRY one, Stormy one…take heart…this too shall pass onto the next SEASON of LIFE.

Blessings in your Season,

Pam
